Space must have measurement and scale, but it is nothing without program. The meaning of a building is what draws people to it, whether out of necessity or pleasure it finds its very existence in purpose.
Tasked with designing a pavilion to complement Mies Van Der Row’s Carr Chapel, I chose to create a forum-style amphitheater. Entire paradigms of architecture have been dedicated to enabling the transfer of ideas and beliefs. I looked to provide a non-denominational space for presentation and communication outside of religious service.
