Fields

Patterns draw our eye. Repetition and symmetry is the most powerful and magnetic force in art and nature. They simply make sense in the most effortless and efficient way.

Purpose

Task

I was tasked with creating a cut field of a geometric pattern based on an aerial image from photographer Alex MacLean. I chose to construct an alternating grid of 3,360 hand-drawn and cut circles in groups of ten that represent industrial smokestacks.
